Position Summary
FLG Technics is seeking a highly experienced and technically authoritative Senior Aircraft Structures & Composites Technician to support our mission of delivering world‑class aerospace maintenance and repair solutions. As a senior member of our Structures & Composites team, this role demands expert-level technical capability, strong accountability, and leadership in safety, quality, and workmanship.
This position is ideal for a technician who not only excels in structural and composite repair, but who also demonstrates professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to guide others, uphold standards, and ensure every repair meets FLG Technics’ commitment to excellence, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
This is not an entry-level role. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, mentor, and quality champion within an FAA-regulated MRO environment.
What You’ll Do
- Perform advanced structural, composite, and sheet‑metal repairs on aircraft components.
- Lead repair activities and support junior technicians with guidance and mentorship.
- Inspect, evaluate, and document damage and repair steps with precision.
- Work independently from SRMs, CMMs, engineering drawings, and approved repair data.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
What You Bring
- Extensive experience in aircraft structures and composite repair.
- Strong knowledge of bonded and mechanically fastened structures.
- Ability to identify corrosion, delamination, cracks, dents, and other defects.
- Proficiency with rivet installation, composite layup, vacuum bagging, bonding, curing, and sheet‑metal fabrication.
- Experience using precision measuring tools.

Preferred Experience
- 5+ years in aircraft structural/composite repair.
- Part 145, MRO, OEM, airline, or military aviation experience.
- Airbus or Boeing flight-control component repair experience.
- A&P certificate (preferred but not required).

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Accountability
- Serve as a senior technical authority for structural, composite, and sheet‑metal repairs, ensuring all work meets FAA, engineering, and FLG Technics quality standards.
- Demonstrate full ownership of assigned repairs, from initial inspection through final airworthiness sign-off.
- Lead by example in safety, precision, documentation, and adherence to approved technical data.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and informal mentorship to junior technicians, reinforcing best practices and proper repair techniques.
- Uphold FLG Technics’ mission by ensuring every repair reflects our commitment to excellence, safety, and reliability.
Structural & Composite Repair Expertise
- Inspect, evaluate, repair, and modify aircraft airframe and flight-control components with expert-level proficiency.
- Perform advanced structural repairs on flaps, slats, spoilers, ailerons, rudders, elevators, fairings, panels, and other control surfaces.
- Execute complex composite repairs involving fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, honeycomb core, bonded structures, and laminated assemblies.
- Conduct sheet‑metal repairs including layout, drilling, countersinking, riveting, forming, blending, and fabrication.
- Remove and replace skins, doublers, core material, fittings, inserts, and other structural elements with precision and accountability.
Technical Data & Quality Compliance
- Interpret and work from SRMs, CMMs, engineering orders, drawings, repair schemes, and DER-authorized data with complete independence.
- Accurately map damage, document measurements, repair steps, materials used, and ensure traceability of all work performed.
- Use precision measuring tools to validate dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
- Ensure strict compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, safety protocols, and quality-control standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and leadership teams to ensure repairs meet schedule, quality, and customer requirements.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively regarding repair status, challenges, and technical findings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with FLG Technics’ mission of operational excellence.

Required Qualifications
- Extensive professional experience in aircraft structural, composite, and sheet‑metal repair.
- Demonstrated expertise working on airframe and flight-control components.
- Strong knowledge of bonded and mechanically fastened aircraft structures.
- Ability to independently interpret SRMs, CMMs, engineering drawings, and technical instructions.
- Proficiency in rivet installation/removal, structural fasteners, sheet‑metal fabrication, composite layup, vacuum bagging, bonding, curing, and core repairs.
- Ability to identify corrosion, delamination, disbonding, impact damage, cracks, dents, and deformation.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, straightedges, contour gauges, and other precision tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing airworthy, high-quality repairs.
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Ability to safely lift and handle aircraft components and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of relevant aircraft structural and composite repair experience.
- Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station, airline maintenance facility, MRO, OEM, or military aviation environment.
- Experience repairing Airbus or Boeing flight-control components.
- Familiarity with Airbus A320 or A330 flight-control structures.
- Experience with autoclave, oven cure, hot-bonding, vacuum-bagging, and controlled composite repair processes.
- Airframe & Powerplant certificate preferred but not required with substantial experience.
- Experience working from engineering-authorized or DER-approved repairs.
Work Environment
This role requires standing for extended periods, working around aircraft components and industrial equipment, using hand and power tools, and occasionally lifting or positioning heavy components. All employees must follow company safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory procedures.
Important Notice
Applicants must have proven aircraft structures and composite repair experience. Automotive bodywork, general construction, marine fiberglass, or unrelated fabrication experience alone does not meet the requirements of this senior-level position.
