Job description:
The Property Accountant is responsible for accounting operations for property management portfolios, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This role is forward facing to clients and stakeholders and works with the accounting team, supports operational partners, and provides strategic financial insight to senior leadership and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Reporting
· The Property Accountant is responsible for accounting functions related to property management, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and client reporting.
· Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and filings for all properties and entities
· Ensure timely and accurate preparation of property-level and consolidated financial statements
· Review and analyze financial results, variances, and key performance metrics
Property & Portfolio Accounting
The Property Accountant will:
· Oversee accounting for operating expenses, bank reconciliations, tenant billings, rent rolls, and security deposits
· Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with operations and client's asset management
Compliance & Controls
The Property Accountant will:
.Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, loan covenants, and regulatory requirements
· Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
· Coordinate audits, and lender reporting requirements
· Ensure accurate accounting for escrow, trust, and client funds
Systems & Process Improvement
The Property Accountant wil:
. Utilize accounting systems and Yardi Voyager 7S
· Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability as the portfolio grows
· Ensure data integrity and consistency across systems.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA certification is encouraged
· Proven experience as a Finance Account Manager or similar role, preferably in the Property Management field
· Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
· Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
· Advanced proficiency in Yardi Voyager 7S
· Exceptional employee management, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
