JOB
Performs supervisory and technical work in various divisions throughout the City.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Plans and coordinates the work activities of assigned crews;

Evaluates employees and establishes employee work schedules;

Supervises assigned employees for adherence to established policies, procedures and work practices as well as all applicable safety standards;

Maintains records of work activities and assigned assets through appropriate asset management systems;
-
Works with other Foremen throughout the City to ensure tasks are completed in an efficient manner;
-
Assist in program planning activities and strategic initiatives for the assigned area;
-
Assists in all aspects of new facility planning including renovations and new construction;
-
Coordinates special construction and development projects;
-
Maintain, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for work assigned;
-
Inspects in house and contract work for compliance with specifications;
-
Purchases materials and equipment needed to perform assigned tasks within allotted budgets;
-
Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment of assigned division as needed;
-
Performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks in order to complete tasks assigned to work crews;

Troubleshoots problems as the arise;
-
Responds to requests from citizens, city personnel, and others concerning their area of work;
-
Communicates with citizens to ensure that policies and procedures are known;
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- High school graduate or equivalent;
-
Experience equivalent to five years full time work in assigned area; and,
-
One year of supervisory experience.
Plus one or more of the following, depending on area of service (must possess and maintain throughout employment):

Valid State of Tennessee or Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at a level appropriate to the area assigned;
-
Grade II Distribution or Collection Systems, or Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control – Level 1;
-
ISA arborist certification;
-
Valid and appropriate Commercial Pesticide Application Certification;
-
Certified Playground Safety Inspector; and/or,
-
Certified Pool Operator.
