We are seeking an experienced Power Distribution Equipment Maintenance and Testing Field Service Engineer to join our team. Candidates should have a working background in this field. Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering/technology preferred but not required.
Proficient at the testing and maintenance of Substation relays, transformers, LTC’s, switchgear, OCB’s, SF6 breakers, MV disconnects, MV circuit breakers, LV circuit breakers (including retrofits), etc. Testing equipment used will be insulation resistance, TTR, power factor, relay, time travel, secondary injection, hi pot, primary / secondary current injection, etc. Job specific and classroom safety training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment.
- Inspect, test, and document electrical systems in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
- Travel to customer sites to complete assigned work. Scheduled maintenance and commissioning outages would sometime require paid overtime, off hours, overnight out of town travel in hotels (company paid), etc.
- Complete accurate service reports and communicate findings to customers and management.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while working in industrial and commercial environments.
Qualifications:
- Electro/mechanical technical skills and understanding of engineering concepts with regards to power distribution and generation.
- Experience maintaining and testing power distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Efficient use of hand tools and power tools.
- Team player with good attitude and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to job sites, including overnight stays as needed.
- Computer literate.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. from ground level to waist high, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to work regularly in the field which may vary from an outdoor environment exposed to seasonal elements to an inside working space.
