Overview
Leff Law firm is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Litigation Legal Assistant to join our firm. This position provides direct support to our litigation attorneys in a fast-paced practice. The ideal candidate enjoys managing multiple priorities, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and is committed to providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
The Litigation Legal Assistant will assist with all aspects of litigation, including:
- Preparing, proofreading, and formatting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Electronic filing in Iowa state and federal courts.
- Maintaining attorney calendars, scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
- Managing litigation deadlines and ensuring compliance with court rules.
- Opening and maintaining client files.
- Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and experts.
- Drafting routine correspondence and legal forms.
- Organizing discovery materials and trial exhibits.
- Assisting attorneys in preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial.
- Managing incoming mail, emails, and telephone calls.
- Performing other administrative and litigation support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess:
- Prior experience as a legal assistant, litigation assistant, or paralegal preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat).
- Experience with electronic filing systems and legal case management software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative team.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to client service.
