Operations Development Specialist Job Summary: The Operations Development Specialist supports the evaluation, design, and implementation of new customer opportunities and operational improvement projects.
This position will work directly with the Process Engineer and Operations Leadership Team to support customer RFQs, operational assessments, warehouse design, labor planning, transportation analysis, customer implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Possesses a strong operational background in manufacturing, logistics, warehouse operations, transportation, or supply chain, and be capable of analyzing business operations while developing practical, scalable solutions.
Operations Development Specialist Responsibilities:
RFQ & Business Development Support
- Assist in reviewing customer RFQs and operational requirements
- Support labor planning and headcount analysis
- Develop operational assumptions for customer proposals
- Research equipment, transportation, warehouse, and packaging requirements
- Assist with cost models and operational feasibility studies
- Support customer presentations and proposal development
- Gather vendor quotations and operational data
Operations Development
- Evaluate warehouse operations and material flow
- Assist with warehouse layouts and storage strategies
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Support warehouse startup planning and customer implementations
- Participate in operational process mapping and workflow design
- Assist with capacity planning and labor balancing
Continuous Improvement
- Perform process observations and time studies
- Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Analyze warehouse productivity and labor utilization
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement
- Assist with warehouse slotting and space optimization
- Support automation and technology initiatives
Project Support
- Coordinate project activities across Operations, Engineering, IT, Finance, and Customer teams
- Track project schedules and milestones
- Prepare executive reports and customer presentations
- Support implementation planning
- Assist with project execution from concept through startup
Required Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent operational experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Data Analysis, PowerBI)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed
