RCI is looking for experienced CDL Class A drivers to join our fast paced growing company. Experience moving heavy equipment and materials is preferred. Must be able to obtain a TWIC card. This is a driver AND laborer position. Must be willing to operate as well as labor.
Driver/Laborer Responsibilities:
- Drive a truck and tractor trailer unit to deliver heavy equipment and materials to jobsite safely and on time.
- Load, handle and transport materials and heavy cargo safely.
- Investigate safety loads to correct materials loaded on trailer.
- Deliver material to destinations, unload materials and complete paperwork.
- Manage vehicle in safe operating condition required by DOT.
- Manage logs and records as per DOT regulations (record mileage for fuel tax purposes).
- Load and unload vehicles or materials and secure for safe transportation.
- Transport materials and equipment to company jobsites.
- Check vehicles, troubleshoot and maintain vehicles; submit write-ups for repairs promptly.
- Operate Powered Industrial Trucks to load and unload delivery vehicle when needed.
- Run ratchet straps and chains and binders to secure load to trailer.
- Adhere to laws on commercial vehicle operation as per Federal, State and local authorities.
- Avoid spilling any liquids; clean up spillage that occurs (spill kits).
- Cleans and prepares construction work sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Attaches rail, remove spikes, lift, and handle railroad crossties.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (digging, stacking goods, etc.).
- Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools, and distributes them to the appropriate locations.
- Follows company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
- Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
Driver/Laborer Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Possess CDL CLASS A, HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
- Willing to work various shift schedules, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to travel to various project and work sites as needed.
- Must be able to pass Federally Mandated Drug and Alcohol tests, as well as a 7 year criminal background investigation. Federally Mandated Drug testing includes the use of marijuana.
