Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support clinical operations as a valuable team member during a gap year before pursuing Medical or Physician Assistant (PA) school. This paid position provides an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive clinical experience in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and documenting chief complaints
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Support physicians and healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment for various clinical procedures
- Administer medications and injections under supervision, following proper protocols
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently for documentation and billing purposes
- Assist with ICD coding and documentation for accurate patient records
- Support laboratory procedures such as specimen collection or X-ray processing when applicable
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication instructions, and health maintenance
- Maintain compliance with safety standards including Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols
