Job Summary:
This position will implement programs within a given functional area of the Orlando Baking Company’s Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Operations under the supervision of the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the responsible Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager in the implementation of relevant QA processes and procedures, the daily execution of activities related to such processes and procedures. The position will, as necessary, participate on cross functional teams to assure effective implementation of QA initiatives and processes. The position owns the execution of technical objectives related to assigned responsibilities. This position is responsible in verifying that operational process control settings are followed, conducts evaluation of in-process samples, finished products, raw materials ingredients and packaging to assure compliance to agreed-upon specification, and procedures. This position maintains the appropriate records, ensures that non-conforming product or equipment is held and tagged, and informs supervisory and production
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs tasks of medium to high complexity.
- Builds and maintains strong, mutually beneficial relationships with the operations team, supply chain & logistics, maintenance.
- Verifies, tracks, and communicates data to bring attention to trends and production challenges. Evaluating test results and independently ensure accuracy before alerting supervision and production personnel. This includes shift sign-offs on all QA and Manufacturing documentation
- Performs assigned technical tasks/duties associated with department processes and procedures.
- Process Control Quality Verification Checks during Scaling, Make-Up and Packaging Operation.
- Conduct GMP and Food Safety Self-Inspection.
- Follow recordkeeping procedures, entering records timely/promptly in the computer for all reports: Hold, FM, Finished Product Evaluation, out-of-specification report, Environmental.
- Compare test results with current specifications and advice supervisory and production personnel of problems and/or out-of-code situations. Make recommendations as to cause and resolution of problem.
- Follow proper inventory maintenance of necessary chemicals and equipment, make out orders for timely replacement or repair.
- Maintain high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping in the QA work area.
- Perform special tests and projects related to the operation as required.
- Interfaces with and provides technical support to appropriate functions and employees to assure regulatory compliance, food safety and quality of Orlando Baking Company products
- Responsible for reporting any food safety, quality and legality issues to supervision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years related work experience.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook
- Use of Scales, pH meter, moisture analyzer, thermometer calibrator
- Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Ability to interpret graphs and read measurements.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Basic microbial knowledge helpful.
Physical Environment:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Standing: Ability to stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate controls, tools, and machinery.
- Mobility: Ability to move freely throughout the plant and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Environment
- Environment: Industrial bakery setting with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, loud machinery, and the smell of baked goods.
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hairnets, and safety glasses must be worn as required.
