About the Firm:
G. Ortega Law, PLLC is a dynamic and growing law firm serving clients across a broad range of industries, with deep expertise in business and corporate law, commercial litigation, banking and lending, and turnaround counsel. We work hand-in-hand with businesses, financial institutions, and entrepreneurs to navigate complex legal challenges — from high-stakes commercial disputes to sophisticated transactional matters.
We operate as outside general counsel for many of our clients, guiding them through the entire lifecycle of their legal needs from day-to-day advising and contract strategy to high-stakes disputes and litigation. We offer a highly collaborative, hands-on environment while representing sophisticated clients. We partner closely with businesses, financial institutions, and entrepreneurs to provide practical, responsive, and strategic legal solutions from start to finish. As a growing firm, we also offer a unique opportunity to be part of our continued expansion. Attorneys are given meaningful insight into how a law firm operates and scales, from client development and workflow management to strategic growth decisions. We are looking for a motivated and talented Associate Attorney to join our team and grow with us.
The Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who wants more than a narrow practice area. Rather than being siloed into a single area, you will work across litigation, transactions, advisory, and general counsel matters, gaining exposure to how legal strategy develops from initial client consultation through dispute resolution. You will collaborate directly with senior attorneys, take ownership of substantive work early on, and engage meaningfully with clients across a range of industries. The firm places a strong emphasis on responsiveness, practical problem-solving, and building long-term client relationships. If you are intellectually curious, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want real exposure to complex legal work early in your career, this role offers a rare opportunity to develop a well-rounded and sophisticated practice.
What You'll Do:
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution – You will manage civil litigation matters across all stages — investigation, pleadings, discovery, pre-trial preparation, trial, settlement negotiations, post-judgment collections, and appeals where necessary. You will represent clients before courts and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediation and arbitration, advocating for favorable outcomes with precision and professionalism.
- Commercial Transactions & Contracting – You will draft, negotiate, and advise on complex commercial agreements, including master service agreements, professional services agreements, engagement letters, statements of work, and non-disclosure agreements. You will work closely with clients to identify legal and business risks, provide strategic guidance, and structure transactions that align with their operational goals.
- Banking & Lending Matters – You will support the firm's community bank and commercial lending practice, assisting with loan documentation, commercial lending transactions, consumer lending transactions, SBA matters, vendor management, corporate governance, and compliance and regulatory counsel. You will also advise on governance, compliance, and risk considerations impacting financial institutions. Through this work, you will gain hands-on insight into the legal and operational challenges of a growing community bank, including how legal strategy supports institutional growth, risk management, and long-term scalability.
- Turnaround & Restructuring – You will assist with troubled loan resolution matters, including workouts, restructurings, forbearance agreements, and foreclosure proceedings. You will help clients navigate time-sensitive and financially complex situations with a focus on practical and efficient resolution.
- Corporate & Regulatory Counsel – You will advise on corporate governance, entity creation and structuring, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, Intellectual Property, and real estate issues. You will also monitor and apply regulatory developments, assist with drafting and review of internal policies and procedures, and serve as a day-to-day legal advisor to clients.
- Client Counsel & Education – You will serve as a trusted advisor, maintaining clear and proactive communication with clients on legal strategy, risk exposure, and likely outcomes. You will also educate internal stakeholders on legal positions and issues that arise during negotiations and transactions.
- Case & Contract Management – You will manage and prioritize multiple concurrent matters simultaneously, maintaining organized contract files and repositories and demonstrating exceptional attention to detail throughout.
Practice Areas:
