About Us
Independent Restoration Services (IRS) is a growing residential remediation company built on a simple promise: when a homeowner's world is turned upside down by fire, water, or mold damage, we show up fast, do the job right, and treat their home like it's our own. We're available 24/7 because disasters don't wait for business hours, and neither do we.
We're building a team of skilled, trustworthy professionals who take pride in hard work and want to grow with a company that's just getting started. If you're looking to join on the ground floor of something with real opportunity for advancement, we want to hear from you!
The Role
We're hiring a Field Technician to serve as the hands-on backbone of every restoration job. You'll be on-site at homes affected by fire, water, and mold damage, performing the physical work that gets a family's home back to normal. This is a labor-intensive, detail-oriented role. No two days look the same, and every job matters to the people living through it.
What You'll Do
- Set up containment barriers and negative air pressure systems to control mold spores, dust, and contaminants
- Perform demolition of damaged materials (drywall, flooring, cabinetry, insulation, etc.)
- Extract water and operate drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, moisture meters)
- Clean, sanitize, and prep affected areas and contents
- Pack, transport, and store customers belongings to off-site storage
- Haul debris and materials to disposal, keeping job sites clean and safe
- Load, unload, and maintain equipment and company vehicles
- Follow safety protocols and use PPE appropriately, especially on mold and fire jobs
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with homeowners in their homes during a stressful time
- Support lead technicians and project managers with whatever the job requires
- Accurately document work performed (photos, notes) for each job
What We're Looking For
- Character first. This role puts you inside people's homes, often during one of the worst experinces of their lives. We need someone honest, reliable, respectful, and trustworthy: no exceptions.
- Provide excellent customer service by going above and beyond to ensure client satisfaction.
- Construction, trades, or hands-on labor experience strongly preferred (framing, drywall, flooring, general contracting, etc.)
- Willingness to learn: prior restoration/remediation experience is a plus but not required. We will train the right person!
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, climb ladders, kneel, bend, and work in tight or uncomfortable spaces
- Comfortable working in varying and sometimes unpleasant conditions (fire-damaged, water-damaged, or moldy environments)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate company vehicles
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a team-first attitude
- Available for on-call/emergency response rotation, including some nights and weekends
- Basic tool proficiency and mechanical aptitude
Why Join IRS
- Competitive pay, based on experience
- Hands-on training and IICRC certification opportunities (water, fire, mold)
- Real path for growth as the company expands: first team members have the most room to advance
- Steady, meaningful work. You're helping people rebuild after real hardship
- Company vehicle and equipment provided for job use
