Primary Purpose:
Provide secretarial support to special education office personnel; coordinating and monitoring special education records, attending to phones, faxing for information, general filing and typing, and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in Spanish

Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing

Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and administrative policies

Ability to work with children with disabilities

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Experience: Three years secretarial experience, preferably in a public education environment, some experience working with children,
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Records, Reports, and Correspondence:

Compile pertinent data as needed
-
Greet visitors and assist as needed
-
Maintaining inventory/checking in incoming orders and distributing as needed

Uploading documents into digital format
-
Assists other clerical/secretarial staff by providing them support in accomplishing their job duties in times of peak demand or to meet work priorities.

Answer incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff

Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (confidential and non-confidential)

Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to department staff

Maintain confidentiality of information

Attend Annual, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and interpret for Spanish speaking families

Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as assigned or requested to contribute to the efficient operation of Springtown ISD Special Education Department.
