Comprehensive Centers for Pain Management (CC4PM) is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join our pain management team in our out-patient surgery centers in the Toledo area.
**Monday - Friday; no nights, holidays, weekends, or on-call.**
The CST is responsible for setting up the operating room, preparing and transporting patients for procedures, adjusts equipment, passes instruments and other supplies to physicians, and takes inventory of operating room supplies before and after procedures. Actively participates in the creation of an environment that fosters patient, family, physician and employee satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Counts operating room supplies and instruments before and after procedures.
- Scrubs arms and hands and assists the surgical team with scrubbing and putting on gloves, masks, and surgical clothing.
- Provide technical assistance to physicians and other health care providers.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.
- Assists with other areas of patient care as needed for efficient workflow.
Required Education / Experience:
- Certificate or associate's degree in surgical technology required.
- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and the National Center for Competency Testing.
- Minimum 1-year of experience as a Surgical Technician.
- BLS certification up-to-date.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move about and between workstations.
- Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries: requires effective interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
- Must be able to lift medium materials, Non-material handling of: continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching; frequent pushing, pulling and squatting. Occasional sitting, stairs and kneeling.
