CNC Mill Operator / Setup

Reports To: CNC Supervisor
Shift: Second Shift (3:20 PM – 11:00 PM)
Please Note: This is a full-time, on-site position located in Philadelphia, PA. Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of the role. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the work location or independently relocate prior to their start date. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Position Summary
The CNC Mill Operator / Setup is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC milling machines in a high-mix, low-volume machining environment. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, perform setups from start to finish, and ensure parts are completed on schedule with good quality. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, takes pride in producing quality parts, enjoys working in a team environment, and has strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform machine setups including work holding, fixture setup, tooling installation, and tool offset adjustments
- Locate, assemble, and verify correct tooling according to work instructions and job documentation
- Load, verify, and run CNC programs; confirm correct revision level and match to process plan
- Safely operate the CNC mill in manual and automatic modes
- Adjust speeds, feeds, and tooling based on material properties and tolerances
- Monitor tool wear and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality
- Read and interpret part prints and technical drawings including GD&T
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, pin gauges, and thread gauges
- Complete In-Process inspections and document results as required
- Identify machine malfunctions and notify supervisors when needed
- Maintain accurate job documentation, time tracking, and quantity produced
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow company and OSHA safety standards, including proper machine operation and safe work practices
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure jobs are completed on schedule with good quality
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC mill setup experience preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and basic technical drawings
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to perform setups with minimal supervision
- Experience with HAAS controls preferred
- Experience in a job shop or high-mix environment
