Qualifications:

Experience working with elementary-aged students with behavioral or emotional needs preferred

Knowledge of PBIS, trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention strategies, and social-emotional learning

Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in high-stress situations

Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Job Summary:
The Elementary Behavior Interventionist supports students who demonstrate behavioral, emotional, and/or social challenges that interfere with academic success and positive school participation. This position collaborates with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to implement proactive behavior supports, teach replacement skills, and promote a safe, supportive learning environment for all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Student Support

Provide direct behavioral support and intervention services to students individually and in small groups

Assist students in developing self-regulation, coping, social, and problem-solving skills
-
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs), safety plans, and individualized student supports with fidelity
-
Use de-escalation and crisis prevention strategies during times of student dysregulation
-
Support students during transitions, classroom instruction, recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal, and other unstructured settings as needed
-
Reinforce positive behavior expectations and schoolwide behavior systems
Collaboration and Consultation
-
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, school counselors, school psychologists, and administration to support student success

Participate in problem-solving teams, child study meetings, MTSS processes, and IEP meetings as appropriate
-
Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and behavior support strategies
-
Provide staff support and coaching related to behavior strategies, regulation supports, and classroom interventions
Data Collection and Documentation
-
Collect and maintain accurate behavioral data, progress monitoring records, and intervention documentation
-
Assist in conducting functional behavior observations and behavior tracking
-
Monitor effectiveness of interventions and communicate findings with the student support team
Crisis Response and Safety
-
Respond to behavioral crises using district-approved crisis prevention and intervention techniques
-
Maintain student dignity and safety during escalated situations
-
Follow district procedures regarding documentation, confidentiality, and incident reporting
Additional Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information
-
Attend required trainings and professional development related to behavior, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning
-
Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
-
Frequently required to sit and may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, or assisting students during escalated situations consistent with district training and policy

Ability to move throughout the school building and playground areas
-
Ability to respond quickly during student behavioral crises
-
Ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties

Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others
