Position Overview
The Dietary Manager oversees all daily operations of the dietary department in a 150‑bed nursing facility in Far Rockaway, NY 11691, ensuring high‑quality meal service, regulatory compliance, and a positive dining experience for residents. This is a hands‑on, floor‑present leadership role requiring strong staff oversight, consistent engagement with residents, and a commitment to food quality and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Oversight — Lead and supervise all dietary functions, ensuring timely meal preparation, accuracy of diets, and adherence to facility standards.
- Hands‑On Leadership — Maintain a visible presence on the floor during meal prep and service; support staff, troubleshoot issues, and model best practices.
- Food Quality Assurance — Monitor food presentation, taste, temperature, and portion control; ensure meals meet nutritional and regulatory requirements.
- Resident Engagement — Interact with residents daily to gather feedback, address concerns, and promote a positive dining environment.
- Staff Management — Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate dietary staff; maintain accountability and foster a supportive team culture.
- Regulatory Compliance — Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, including sanitation, safety, and documentation standards.
- Menu & Diet Coordination — Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian to implement menus, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
- Inventory & Budget Management — Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and cost‑effective food service operations.
- Survey Readiness — Maintain continuous readiness for state and federal surveys; address and correct deficiencies promptly.
Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a long‑term care or healthcare dietary department.
- Strong working knowledge of LTC dietary regulations, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, high‑volume kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work full‑time, on‑site, with consistent floor presence.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000–$95,000 annually
- Sign‑On Bonus: $500
