Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries
- Load, secure, and unload freight using proper manual handling techniques and equipment to ensure cargo safety
- Navigate using GPS systems efficiently to meet delivery schedules while optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and time management
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and other relevant safety standards during all operations
- Handle hazardous or dangerous goods with precision, following all hazard materials regulations and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across diverse terrains
- Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently while adhering to safety standards
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling practices for various types of freight including hazardous materials and dangerous goods
- Excellent knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for over-the-road (OTR) trucking
- Skilled in manual handling techniques necessary for safe load & unload operations in compliance with safety standards
