Hycroft is looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer ready to lead design packages, coach junior staff, and take meaningful ownership of project deliverables. If you have 5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience and want to step further into technical leadership, this is a great place to do it.
About the Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer at Hycroft, you will lead the mechanical engineering design effort on small-to-medium projects and contribute to larger ones. You will coordinate with multi-discipline teams, mentor junior engineers and designers, and act as a key technical point of contact for clients and vendors.
What You'll Do
- Lead the preparation of mechanical engineering design deliverables — drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
- Develop scopes of work, design criteria, equipment lists, and datasheets
- Specify and procure rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, and pressure vessels
- Coordinate with designers, multi-discipline engineers, contractors, and vendors
- Review and check work of junior engineers and designers; provide technical mentorship
- Manage the engineering portion of small-to-medium projects, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking
- Conduct site visits, support construction, and assist with commissioning activities
- Apply ASME, API, and CSA standards and client standards; ensure work meets Hycroft QA/QC procedures
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility to register with EGBC
- 5–10 years of industrial mechanical engineering design experience (oil & gas, mining, or process plants)
- Working knowledge of ASME, API, and CSA standards
- Proficient with AutoCAD, mechanical design software and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with ASME pressure vessel codes, API standards, rotating equipment, and HVAC design
- Background in industrial sectors (oil & gas, mining, process plants)
- Prior experience mentoring junior staff or running small project teams
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, BigTime, or similar
