Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions efficiently, and maintain a positive shopping experience for all customers. This position offers an opportunity to develop retail skills in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities that include operating POS systems, assisting customers, and supporting store merchandising efforts. Prior experience in grocery or retail sales is a plus, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Responsibilities
- Operate POS systems accurately to process customer transactions, including cash handling and credit card payments
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Upsell products and promote store specials or product demos to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area and throughout the store
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with inventory management as needed
- Ensure proper merchandising displays are maintained to attract customer attention
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when addressing customer inquiries or concerns over the phone
- Supervise or assist with product demos to engage customers and promote featured items
- Support overall store operations including stocking, merchandising, and maintaining a welcoming environment
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cashiering procedures
- Strong customer service skills with excellent communication abilities
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and retail math calculations
- Experience in grocery store or retail sales environments preferred
- Ability to upsell products effectively to increase sales revenue
- Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques and stock management practices
- Phone etiquette for professional communication with customers and vendors
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership roles within the team
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail setting while maintaining attention to detail
