Job Responsibilities
· Lead shift
· Assign and perform daily tasks and special assignments
· Along with the Detention Supervisor, Superintendent, and/or the Assistant Superintendent, participates in staffings where detention operations are clarified and/or refined in comparison with previously stated or written goals and objectives.
· Assist with and participate in training for all staff
· Evaluate line staff performance and participate in annual employee evaluation process
· Assist with the evaluation of programs and provide feedback on facility policy and procedures
· Participate in special projects and committees. Attend, participate, and assist in staff meetings and seminars
· Requires the ability to apply and adhere to applicable laws contained in the Illinois Revised Statutes and the Illinois Detention Standards for AOIC, IDJJ and PREA
· Requires the ability to interview, evaluate information, and make reasonable decisions
· Requires flexibility in relating to people involved in a variety of life styles
· Requires the ability to maintain accurate records and files
· Work closely with the management team
· Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Deputy Director
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred, but not Required.
Job Requirements
· A Master’s Degree in management, public administration, criminal justice, or social services, and one or more years of employment in juvenile detention/residential services.
· A Bachelor’s Degree and two or more years of employment in Probation/Court Services.
At least one of the required years must be in juvenile detention/residential services.
· Preference given to a degree in the fields of social science, behavioral science or criminal justice.
· Must be a resident of the State of Illinois within 90 days of hiring or approved exemption.
· Must meet all of the requirements for a Juvenile Detention Officer.
