Position Summary
This is an on-site building maintenance assistant role based in Redwood City, CA. This role is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance duties in the community and around the community grounds as assigned. The facility maintenance assistant will collaborate with the facility maintenance lead and is responsible for supporting the upkeep of a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the residents, guests and team members.
Experience and Qualifications
- One (1) year of maintenance experience preferred
- Energetic and eager to work and help
- Familiarity and/or interest in facility repairs and maintenance
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication
- Ability to learn internet-based project management software
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties: General Maintenance Duties
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, and pulling of objects and materials weighing at a minimum of 50lbs
- Responsible for completing all maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Assists with working on heating & air conditioning systems
- Assists with work on domestic water systems and pumps
- Assists with work on refrigeration systems, motors, fans, electrical systems and emergency generators
- Performs routine preventative maintenance as directed by supervisor and according to safety regulations
- Performs general maintenance and preventative maintenance duties such as:
- Maintaining wall coverings
- Maintaining floor coverings
- Minor repairs of furniture and fixtures
- Performing basic plumbing work and/or working with outside plumbers
- Performing minor electrical repairs and/or working with outside electricians
- Maintaining commercial laundry and kitchen equipment and working with outside service vendors
- Assists with painting and refurbishing projects
- Performs minor building and equipment repairs
- Conducts routine maintenance on all vehicles as assigned
- Maintains all tools and repair parts
- Participates in all fire drills and in the community’s disaster preparedness program
Essential Duties: Risk Management and General Safety
- Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers
- MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and infection control guidelines
- Ensures any cords, carts, equipment and other hazards are kept out of the way at all times
- Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment and to prevent accidents
Job Type: Part Time, Full Time
Pay: $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience
