Executive Director
I. RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as chief executive officer of Paintsville Tourism, Country Music Highway Museum, and Mountain HomePlace; recommends and participates in the formulation of new policies and makes decisions within existing policies as they have been approved by the Tourism Commission. Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the staff, programs, and activities of the Tourism Commission to assure that objectives are attained. Maintains effective internal and external relationships. Through management and leadership, achieve economical, productive performance; forward looking programming and constructive growth of the Tourism Commission.
II. GENERAL DUTIES
A. Sees that the Tourism Commission is kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of Tourism, and on all important factors influencing it. Attends all meetings of the Tourism Commission.
B. Plans, formulates, and recommends for the approval of the Tourism Commission basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the Tourism Commission.
C. Executes all decisions of the Tourism Commission except when specific assignment is made by the Tourism Commission.
D. Develops for purpose of day-to-day administration specific policies, procedures, and programs to implement the general policies established by the Tourism Commission.
E. Directs and coordinates all programs, projects, and major activities of the Tourism Commission.
F. Trains and motivates Tourism Commission staff personnel. Responsible for all promotions and terminations as approved by the Tourism Commission.
G. Obtains maximum utilization of staff by clearly defining their duties, establishing performance standards, conducting periodic employee performance reviews and assists the commission with maintaining a competitive salary structure.
H. Executes such contracts and commitments as may be authorized by the Tourism Commission or established policies.
I. Maintains effective relationships with other organizations, both public and private and sees that the positions of the Tourism Commission is enhanced in accordance with its policies and objectives.
J. In cooperation with the budget committee, recommends and upon approval operates within an annual budget. Insures that all funds, physical assets and other property of the Tourism Commission are appropriately safeguarded and administered. Executes by-law provisions with respect to an annual CPA audit.
K. Plans, coordinates, and conducts a public relations program to enhance public acceptance of Tourism.
L. Plans and executes all communications, which includes newsletters, general mailings, media advertising, and news releases. Brochures must be approved by the commission.
M. Assists the Tourism Commission in developing long-term strategies and priorities for the Tourism Commission.
N. Develops overall marketing and advertising strategy and reports directly to the Tourism Commission concerning activities.
O. Works with Department of Travel, Kentucky State Parks, Adventure Tourism, state and regional tourism commissions, and other state organizations to promote Paintsville and Johnson County as part of the State Tourism Plan.
III. RELATIONSHIPS
A. He/she is directly responsible to the Tourism Commission for the administration of the office and for proper interpretation and fulfillment of all his functions, responsibilities, and authority.
B. Establishes and maintains such relationships as the Tourism Commission may specify or as he/she may deem advisable in the best interest of the Tourism Commission, but conformity with established policy.
IV. REIMBURSEMENTS
A. It is the policy of the Tourism Commission to reimburse the Executive Director for properly authorized meals, lodging, travel, and entertainment expenses provided they are directly related to the mission and objectives of the Commission.

Minimum Requirements
- Public speaking and knowledge of local attractions
- Experience in the Tourism Industry
- Bachelor Degree and/or 4 Years Industry related experience
