Job Summary
The Accountant role is responsible for managing the financial operations of a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely processing of transactions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a small, collaborative environment with multiple responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for assigned properties
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
- Generate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and tenant ledgers
- Record and track rental income, CAM charges, and other property-related revenues
- Manage security deposit accounting and reconciliations
- Prepare owner reports and respond to owner inquiries
- Assist with annual budgets and forecasting for properties
- Support audits and provide documentation as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies, lease agreements, and applicable regulations
- Collaborate with property managers on financial issues, variances, and reporting needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of accounting experience; property or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP and basic real estate accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with property management software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
