Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Hydrovac Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating hydrovac excavation equipment to safely and efficiently expose underground utilities, perform site investigations, and assist with various construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure project safety, accuracy, and timely completion while maintaining a high standard of operational excellence. Duties
- Operate hydrovac trucks equipped with high-pressure water jets and vacuum systems to excavate around underground utilities and sensitive structures.
- Perform thorough pre-operation inspections of equipment, ensuring all safety features are functional before use.
- Follow detailed excavation plans and site-specific safety protocols to prevent damage or accidents.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of work zones, including traffic control and safety barriers.
- Collaborate with project managers, utility locators, and other team members to coordinate excavation activities efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, inspection reports, and safety documentation.
- Conduct routine maintenance on hydrovac equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, water trucks, graders, dump trucks, and tankers.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles including trucks with hydraulic systems and vacuum technology.
- Proven construction site experience with a focus on utility installation or excavation projects.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment such as horizontal drills and paving machinery when needed.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and construction environments.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery and other leading brands in heavy equipment manufacturing.
