Job Summary
The Construction Site Security Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all site security operations throughout the life of the construction project. This position serves as the primary liaison between project leadership, government security representatives, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure compliance with all federal security requirements.
This is a security management position responsible for planning, coordination, compliance, and execution—it is not a security guard or patrol position.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce security policies tailored specifically to construction site
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Site Security Plan.
- Manage all site security operations in accordance with federal contract requirements.
- Coordinate with Government security personnel, project management, and subcontractors.
- Oversee personnel badging, credentialing, visitor management, and access control.
- Administer vehicle and material delivery security procedures.
- Conduct routine security inspections and vulnerability assessments.
- Investigate and document security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain security documentation, logs, reports, and compliance records.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and security drills.
- Conduct security orientations and ongoing awareness training.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with project security requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular security status updates.
- Identify emerging security risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible security management experience supporting construction, military, industrial, critical infrastructure, or federal facilities.
- Minimum three (3) years managing security operations on federal construction projects or secure government facilities.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Site Security Plans.
- Experience managing access control, badging, visitor management, incident reporting, and security documentation.
- Experience coordinating directly with Government security officials and multiple subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of physical security principles, site security planning, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to read and interpret security requirements, project specifications, and government directives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting one or more of the following:
- Department of Energy (DOE)
- National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
- Department of Defense (DoD)
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
- Secure federal laboratories
- Military installations
- SCIF construction or controlled-access facilities
- Critical infrastructure or energy projects
The following certifications are highly desirable:
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- Physical Security Professional (PSP)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- OSHA 30 Construction
Military security leadership, federal law enforcement, Facility Security Officer (FSO), or industrial security management experience is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Construction Management, Emergency Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent military leadership or professional experience may be substituted for formal education.
