The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, focusing on improving residents’ mobility, strength, balance, and overall functional independence. This role works closely with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver individualized therapy interventions.
Reporting: This position reports directly to the Physical Therapist and collaborates with the rehabilitation team and interdisciplinary staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising PT.
- Provide therapeutic exercises and interventions to improve mobility, balance, and strength.
- Educate residents and families on exercises, safety techniques, and use of assistive devices.
- Document therapy services and resident progress accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support comprehensive care planning.
- Promote a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for all residents.
- Demonstrate compassion, respect, and professionalism in all interactions.
Education and License Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current Washington State Physical Therapist Assistant license.
Experience
- Experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation settings preferred, but new graduates and newly licensed assistants are welcome to apply.
