Title: Special Education TOSA
Supervisor: Special Education Director and Special Education Head Teacher
Contract Days: 166 days, 9.25 hours day, 4 days per week with occasional PD Fridays.
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Salary Range: $54,065 - $85,180 depending upon licensure, education and previous teaching experience.
Candidates with a Masters in Education will start at $60,850.
Candidates with a Restricted, Limited or Emergency teaching license will start at $45,000 until regular teaching licensed is obtained.

North Lake School District is seeking a Licensed Teacher to work on Special Assignment under the direction of the Special Education Head Teacher for students in grades K-12. The teacher will be primarily working with elementary students but may occasionally work with older students.
Candidate must hold, or be able to obtain, a current Oregon Teaching license with any endorsement. Candidates currently working on Special Education endorsement will be given preference.
North Lake operates on a 4 day school week, is 1:1 with Chromebooks and has an enrollment of 210-225 students.

Preferred candidate will be trained in RTI interventions, STAR Autism classroom tools and differentiated instruction.
Essential Duties: (See attached Job Description for additional details)
1. Implements IEP’s developed by the special education teacher.
2. Maintains the confidentiality of student communications and keeps records as required by law, policy and regulations.
3. Creates a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment and maintains control of the classroom, supervisory areas, and assemblages of students.
4. Understands and is proficient in de-escalation strategies.
5. Participates in the identification, implementation and program planning needs for children with disabilities.
6. Coordinates and oversees paraprofessionals working with students in 1:1 and small-group settings. Performs and delegates sensitive, essential daily care duties, including student toileting and hygiene, requiring a two-staff protocol.
7. Conducts daily, targeted small-group instruction while monitoring and evaluating the instructional effectiveness and implementation of paraprofessionals.
8. Ability to physically intervene, restrain, or guide students during behavioral escalations to ensure the safety of the student and others (requires adherence to district-approved crisis prevention protocols).
9. Works with school, ESD personnel, parents, and outside agencies when needed.
10. Participates in ongoing professional development as it relates to special education.
11. Maintains records, reports, and documentation as required by district policy and state law.
12. Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.
13. Consistent, punctual attendance is essential for this role. Special education students require a high degree of routine and co-regulation, and changes in staffing can cause significant dysregulation and behavioral disruption.
