Prolink is partnered with a reputable machine shop in the search for an experienced CNC Machinist. This is a full-time, direct-hire opening on 1st shift. Ideal candidates have prior experience with boring mills.
Summary
Sets up and operates CNC lathes, mills, VTLs, and manual machines to perform drilling, tapping, milling, boring, and other machining operations. Programs and monitors machine operations, adjusts tooling and offsets as needed, and produces quality parts to specification and schedule. Performs complex setups requiring close tolerances, determines operation sequences, selects tools, and ensures proper tool storage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret routers, blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, setup, and operation sequence.
- Measure, mark, and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications; document critical dimensions.
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials.
- Set up machines and run trial operations to verify accuracy and program integrity.
- Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make adjustments as needed.
- Perform machining across multiple machines; cross-training on varied equipment is required.
- Collaborate with team members on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Train other machinists on specific equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned; must be able to stand for full shifts.
- Manual machining parts, pins, fixtures, etc. as needed
Qualifications / Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational training, related experience, or Associate’s degree preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to perform independent setups, create and edit programs, and machine parts to print.
- Experience machining various metals.
- CNC experience with Fanuc and Tosnuc controls preferred.
