Sales Coordinator, Special Markets (Mail Order/Wholesale)
The Sales Coordinator, Special Markets, supports two Sales Managers and the Associate Director across a diverse portfolio of accounts in the mail order, subscription box, ecommerce, specialty wholesale, and proprietary publishing channels. Key accounts include Readerlink, Dollar Tree, Literati, Scholastic, OwlCrate, and other specialty customers. The Sales Coordinator’s tasks include day-to-day sales and administrative support for a team focused on trade and custom publishing opportunities.
Responsibilities include processing orders, working with managers on quote requests, and new business outreach. The position will include working with a variety of departments to ensure custom and trade orders are produced, shipped, and delivered on schedule and problem-solving when necessary. The Coordinator will work alongside Managers and Associate Director to prepare for sales cales, assisting with catalogs and presentations as needed as well as ongoing relationship management. The Coordinator will attend sales meetings at the S&S offices or virtually and work closely with the team to continue expanding Simon & Schuster’s representation at various accounts in the Mail Order channel. This position will also work closely with the Managers on new business outreach and resulting paperwork required to onboard new customers.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with customer inquiries and providing support to resolve order or inventory-related issues as necessary
- Processing purchase orders, direct-to-printer shipments, and related customer requests
- Coordinating with supply chain and production to monitor inventory and shipping timelines
- Handling sample requests for customers and managers
- Supporting managers with title presentations, seasonal selling materials, and account follow-up
- Supporting special projects including custom publishing, reprints, and pricing requests
- Assisting with onboarding paperwork and setup for new customers
- Maintaining departmental proprietary tracking grid
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders at all levels
- Interest in publishing, books, and specialty sales channels
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
