Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Office Substitute to join our team at Webster County High School. This position involves providing essential healthcare support to students and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for helping others, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing first aid as needed.
- Support students with health-related concerns, including managing chronic conditions and addressing acute health issues.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students and staff, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with school nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement health plans for students.
- Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics, including hygiene practices, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Assist in the coordination of health screenings and immunization programs within the school.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care until further medical assistance arrives.
- Maintain a clean and organized medical office, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are stocked and in good condition.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in healthcare and education.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a school or pediatric environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed for school events or health programs.
