Position Purpose:
Perform inspections and tests, quality problem investigation and resolution. Support manufacturing in the production of products that meet specifications. Support the Quality Management System and continuous improvement activities. Work independently on routine quality activities and provide technical support to manufacturing personnel in identifying, containing, and resolving quality concerns.
Essential Functions:
- Assist and support the manufacturing floor in interpreting quality requirements from prints, published specifications, control plans, work instructions, and other applicable quality documentation.
- Utilize quality tools including capability studies, Gage R&R, basic statistics, control charts, SPC, and sampling to evaluate product and process performance and recommend inspection frequency adjustments as needed.
- Perform daily product verification and coordinate inspection and testing activities as required.
- Participate in and support root cause analysis, corrective actions, action-item closure, and corrective action follow-up.
- Interact with suppliers regarding quality issues and assist with the resolution of supplier-related quality concerns.
- Review and verify supplier corrective action responses and supporting documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and review of PPAP sample submissions and associated documentation under the direction of the Quality Manager or Quality Engineer.
- Review supplier PPAP documentation and sample submissions assigned.
- Support ISO9001 and applicable Quality Management System requirements, including document control, record maintenance, and audit preparation.
- Participate in internal Quality Management System audits as assigned.
- Lead or coordinate suspect product containment activities and communicate findings to appropriate manufacturing and quality personnel.
- Participate in error proofing, process improvement, and continuous improvement activities to improve plant PPM and overall product quality.
- Participate in APQP meetings and support product launch initiatives under the direction of the Quality Manager or Quality Engineer.
- Assist with print reviews, control plans, FMEA's, flow charts, inspection plans, and other quality planning documentation.
- Perform and document dimensional inspections and basic statistical analysis of product and process data.
- Assist with measurement systems analysis on inspection equipment, gages, fixtures, and measurement systems.
- Provide technical assistance to Quality Technician Level 1 personnel and production employees regarding inspection methods, quality requirements, and proper use of measurement equipment.
- Communicate quality concerns, inspection results, and supporting data to manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and quality personnel.
- Limited travel may be required in planned and emergency situations.

Education and Training
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or additional technical/quality education preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience in quality inspection or quality assurance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 and/or IATF 16949 Quality Management System requirements preferred.
- Working knowledge of PPAPs, control plans, FMEAs, process flow charts, sampling plans, control charts, and SPC.
- Ability to perform and document dimensional inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and its application to product inspection.
- Experience using inspection tools, gages, fixtures, and other measurement equipment.
- Ability to perform basic capability studies and Gage R&R studies with appropriate guidance.
- Ability to identify quality problems, participate in root cause analysis, and support corrective action implementation.
- Experience supporting PPAP activities and reviewing associated quality documentation preferred.
- Experience supporting ISO9001 Quality Management Systems and internal audit activities preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, forming, and assembly preferred.
- Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and communicate quality data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including file organization and use of applicable quality and production software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal personnel and external suppliers.
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting a team environment.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and assistance to less-experienced quality and production personnel.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
