Courtroom Representative/Litigation Spec
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Claims Litigation Manager to provide strategic oversight of high-exposure litigation matters. This role is not responsible for direct claims handling but instead focuses on managing and directing the litigation process, ensuring effective legal strategy, cost control, and risk mitigation.
The position is ideal for a professional who excels in litigation oversight, counsel management, and high-level decision-making, including settlement authority on complex cases.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight of complex litigation matters with minimum exposure of $3M–$5M+

Supervise and direct outside counsel and attorneys responsible for day-to-day case handling (no direct claims handling required)

Develop and guide litigation strategies to align with our clients business objectives and risk tolerance

Exercise settlement authority and lead negotiation efforts for optimal resolution

Attend and actively participate in trials and legal proceedings, including travel for up to two consecutive weeks as needed

Monitor litigation budgets and legal spend to ensure cost control and financial discipline

Evaluate and manage outside counsel performance using key metrics (cost efficiency, outcomes, case duration)

Oversee discovery processes, including legal holds and electronic data (ESI) coordination

Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and tracking of litigation activity

Partner with internal stakeholders, clients, insurers, and legal teams to maintain alignment and communication

Utilize litigation management tools and analytics to track trends and improve decision-making

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, but not required

10+ years of experience in claims litigation management, legal oversight, or insurance/corporate litigation

Proven experience managing high-exposure, complex litigation matters

Strong background in counsel management and litigation strategy

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and settlement authority

Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods (up to two weeks at a time)

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

Experience with litigation management systems, e-billing platforms, or legal analytics tools preferred
