Seeking one (1) highly motivated and experienced individual to fill in as a Leave Replacement for Special Education MD Teachers at Rush School during the 2026-2027 school year. This is a temporary position that will require the candidate to work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the delivery of high-quality education services. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a passion for working with students with special needs. The leave position will begin on or about August 31, 2026, with an anticipated end on December 16, 2026.
Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group instruction to students with special needs

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students

Collaborate with classroom teachers and other special education staff to ensure students receive appropriate support

Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress

Attend IEP meetings and other meetings related to student progress and services

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and trends in special education

Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction

Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed

Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system

Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field

Valid teaching certification in Special Education

Experience working with students with special needs
