Truck Driver for Valley Steel Recycling:
The CDL Class A Driver is an integral part of our operation, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of scrap materials to and from specified destinations. This role requires extensive experience in handling roll-off and end dump trailers, adhering to company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards while fulfilling daily operational tasks. The driver must maintain excellent customer service, ensuring prompt and professional communication with all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery & Pick-Up:
Safely transport and deliver scrap materials in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations using roll-off and end dump trailers.
Ensure timely pick-up and delivery of materials and verify the load for accuracy.
Inspect, load, and unload scrap materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues or concerns.
Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of company vehicles.
Safety Compliance:
Operate vehicles in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for safe truck operations.
Ensure the securement of the load.
Communication & Customer Service:
Maintain consistent communication with dispatch regarding the status of the delivery.
Provide excellent customer service to clients during the delivery and pick-up of materials.
Job Conditions:
Job involves regular physical labor, including lifting up to 70 pounds, pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing.
Work involves exposure to usual weather conditions.
Irregular hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, may be necessary.
Extensive travel is required, sometimes to multiple locations in a single day.
Drug test is required.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Extensive experience in handling roll-off and end dump trailers.
Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company mental and physical requirements.
Proven experience as a CDL driver with a clean driving record.
Sound knowledge of truck maintenance.
Excellent hearing and vision, required for communication, driving, and safety purposes.
Strong time-management and customer service skills.
