At Openland Credit Union, our Collections team does more than collect payments—we help members navigate financial challenges and find solutions that put them back on the path to success. We're looking for a Collections Officer who is confident, compassionate, and motivated by helping people while protecting the financial health of the credit union.
In this role, you'll work directly with members to resolve delinquent accounts, establish payment arrangements, and identify solutions that benefit both the member and the credit union. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities to problem-solve, and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

High school diploma or GED required

Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, and confidence.

Excellent problem-solving and negotiation abilities.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities.
What You'll Do

Ensures that collection activity is both within credit union policy and all relevant guidelines

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts and member calls, account adjustments, disputes, reconciliations, and payment processing.

Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.

Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current.

Arranges and agrees on alternative apyment schedules for delinquent and charged-off accounts with members.

Effectively works and maintains assigned collection queues.

Provides member service regarding collection issues.

Completes the required number of calls per dayas defined by the Vice President of Collections.

Analyzes financial situations of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral, initiate foreclosure or take legal action when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.

Provide customer service to all branch/member needs related to non-collection accounts.
