Title: General Manager
Reports to: Dara Wong: Owner
Job Description: The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all front of house operations at Shift Kitchen and Bar. This includes the selection, development and performance of all FOH employees as well as enforcing service standards to guests. They will enhance the bar program by developing new seasonal cocktails as well as pairing beers and wines that match well with Shifts food. In addition, the general manager will oversee the inventory and ordering for the bar and dining room supplies. They will optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their dining experience. FOH manager works closely with the executive chef to ensure proper hospitality is met.
General Duties And Responsibilities
- Interview, hire, terminate staff
- Manage staff training
- Supervise upkeep of dining room, bathroom, and bar
- Make menu edits on all platforms
- Understand ins / outs of POS system
- Bar menu development, recipe conduction, and execution
- Ordering / receiving bar alcohol
- Responding to reviews on all review platforms
Financial
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including beverage and labor costs.
Safety / Compliance
- Enforce sanitary practices for food and drink handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/ local laws, and ordinances.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Ensure alcohol regulations are adhered to
Guest Experience
- Responsible for ensuring the consistency of high quality service.
- Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
- Responsible for overseeing the making of, confirming, and reading of all notes of guest reservations.
Staffing
- Provide ongoing feedback, establish performance expectations and conduct performance reviews every 6 months.
- Maintain employee records during hiring and write-ups
- Staff and schedule all front of house shifts.

- Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
- Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
- Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
- Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.

Compensation Package
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000
