Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mason/Block Layer to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing a variety of masonry tasks, including building walls, structures, and decorative features using bricks, blocks, stone, and other building materials. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of residential, commercial, and restoration projects. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety standards while delivering quality craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Interpret construction plans, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute masonry work according to project specifications.
- Lay bricks, blocks, stone, and other masonry units using mortar and other adhesives with precision and efficiency.
- Install rebar reinforcement in concrete forms for structural stability and durability.
- Perform concrete finishing tasks such as pouring, smoothing, troweling, and sealing to achieve smooth surfaces.
- Build and dismantle masonry scaffolding safely to access elevated work areas.
- Execute rebar installation and concrete forming activities in accordance with technical drawings and safety protocols.
- Apply skills in plastering, stucco application, tile laying, caulking, and trim carpentry to enhance project quality.
- Operate hand tools and power tools effectively while adhering to safety guidelines on the construction site.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately to ensure precise material placement.
- Assist with heavy equipment operation when required for site preparation or material handling.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing materials and ensuring safe storage practices.
Experience
- Proven masonry experience with a strong background in concrete masonry units (CMUs), stone masonry, bricklaying, and related construction activities.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with confidence.
- Hands-on experience in construction estimating, renovation projects, restoration work, and building material installation.
- Knowledge of safety protocols specific to masonry work including scaffold building, heavy equipment operation, welding (if applicable), and working at heights.
- Familiarity with construction site procedures such as interpreting technical specifications and adhering to building codes.
- Prior involvement in projects requiring concrete finishing, mortar work, metal stud framing, roofing support structures or carpentry integration is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.
