Summary: The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures for patients. They work closely with physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that surgeries are properly planned and executed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgeries and related appointments with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate records of surgeries and related procedures, including patient information and medical history
- Communicate with patients about the details of their surgical procedures, including pre-operative instructions
- Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure that all necessary authorizations are obtained for each procedure
- Manage scheduling conflicts and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate emergency procedures or unexpected changes
- Assure appropriate coordination with other departments when surgical needs occur
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in surgery scheduling or a related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and hospital operations
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other scheduling software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
