Wayside and Systems Manager Support
Summary
This internship supports the Wayside and Systems Department with documentation, field observation, and technical writing related to rail systems, wayside equipment, and infrastructure projects. The intern will translate field activity and system processes into clear, usable documentation and assist with coordination across technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and revise technical documents, SOPs, job aids, and process guides
- Observe field work involving wayside systems and document procedures and findings
- Assist with organizing system records, drawings, and maintenance documentation
- Participate in site visits and construction zone observations
- Track project activities and compile status summaries for leadership
Desired Qualifications and Must Haves
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Ability to interpret technical information and convert it into clear written guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in team settings
- Comfortable working in field environments around active infrastructure
Education
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Technical Communications, or related field
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
Work Environment
- Hybrid work environment including office, field visits, and construction zones
- PPE required when performing duties in the field
