Location: Frederick, MD (on-site, utility-scale solar project)
Employment Type: Full-time | Project-based
About the Role
We're hiring an experienced Pile Driver Operator to run a Vermeer PD10 on our solar project in Frederick, MD. You'll be responsible for setting production piles to spec — on line, on grade, and plumb — while keeping the crew moving and the machine in good working order.
This is a hands-on production role. If you know how to read a soil change through the hammer, keep your tolerances tight, and hit daily pile counts without tearing up posts, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
- Operate a Vermeer PD10 / PD10R pile driver to install production piles per engineered drawings and pile schedule
- Use onboard GPS machine guidance (Carlson or equivalent) to position the machine and verify pile location, embedment depth, reveal, and plumb
- Set and adjust mast angle for battered piles as called for on the drawings
- Load posts into the guides, monitor pile engagement, and identify refusals, voids, and soft spots
- Meet or exceed daily pile production targets while holding tolerance
- Perform daily pre-op inspections, greasing, fluid checks, and basic field maintenance; report damage or service needs promptly
- Communicate with survey, QA/QC, and the foreman on layout issues, pile refusals, and rework
- Assist with pile load testing, pile repair/re-drive, and general site work as needed
- Follow all site safety requirements, including daily JHAs, toolbox talks, and 100% PPE compliance
- Track and report daily production counts and machine hours
