We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Associate Attorney to join our Litigation Department. This position is ideal for an attorney with some litigation experience, including exposure to civil litigation and/or workers' compensation matters, who is looking to take ownership of cases and further develop their advocacy skills.
The Associate Attorney will manage a portfolio of cases through all phases of litigation, from initial filing and pleadings through discovery, hearings, mediation, arbitration, and trial. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, opposing counsel, medical experts, and fellow attorneys to achieve favorable outcomes while delivering exceptional client service.
This role offers meaningful courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to handle substantive litigation responsibilities in a collaborative and supportive environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Managing litigation matters from initial filing through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Develop case strategies tailored to each case.
- Negotiate with opposing counsel and insurance carriers.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with clients.
- Educate clients on legal procedures, timelines, and case expectations.
- Prepare clients for depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Manage all aspects of discovery, including interrogatories, document production, and depositions.
- Analyze evidence and prepare exhibits for trial.
- Collaborate with medical experts, accident reconstruction specialists, and other professionals.
- Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files within the firm’s case management system.
- Track deadlines and ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
- Participate in firm-sponsored training and continuing legal education (CLE).
- Stay updated on developments in litigation procedures, case law, and trial advocacy.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Connecticut and in good standing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation, worker's compensation and/or trial practice
- Strong advocacy, analytical, and legal research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines
