Job Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient vision and overall eye health. This energetic position combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service, ensuring each patient receives personalized care and accurate eyewear solutions. As an Optician, you will collaborate closely with optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive optical services in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Your passion for eye care and retail sales will help us create a welcoming atmosphere that promotes healthy vision for all ages.
What You’ll Do
- Guide patients in selecting frames and lenses that fit their lifestyle, prescription, and budget
- Educate patients on lens technology, coatings, and eyewear options
- Verify and explain vision insurance benefits
- Take precise measurements of patients’ eyes, including pupillary distance and frame fitting specifications
- Fit eyewear properly: Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot glasses
- Process and track eyewear orders
- Manage optical inventory, including ordering lenses, frames, and supplies while maintaining accurate records
- Operate EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to document patient interactions, prescriptions, and billing details
- Follow established office procedures and maintain accurate documentation
- Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient confidentiality during all interactions and recordkeeping
- Work closely with doctors and team members to ensure a seamless patient experience
Qualifications
- Previous optical experience preferred
- ABO certification is a plus, but not required
- Strong Customer service and Excellent communication skills to educate patients about their options
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Comfortable learning new systems and technology
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the team
