Gattis Law Firm, PC is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Eminent Domain & Litigation Legal Assistant to support our boutique law practice in Georgetown, Texas. In this role, you will work directly with founder Dan Gattis to protect private property owners facing eminent domain, condemnation, and government takings across the state.
Our firm aggressively defends Texas families, ranchers, and business owners against major pipeline projects, utility companies, and government seizures. We approach every case with deep integrity, localized expertise, and an absolute commitment to ensuring landowners receive fair treatment and just compensation.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a sharp, proactive Legal Assistant to manage our heavy civil litigation caseload and coordinate client pipelines. You will act as a primary point of contact for Texas landowners navigating property takings, organize extensive case files, and manage strict court deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Case Management: Organize and maintain litigation files, tracking large-scale infrastructure and condemnation projects.
- Document Drafting: Prepare initial drafts of legal correspondence, pleadings, demand letters, motions, and proofs of claim.
- E-Filing: Handle all Texas state court electronic filings (e-filing) and manage court dockets.
- Client Relations: Maintain compassionate, clear communication with landowners and right-of-way agents to gather case facts and relay updates.
- Docketing & Scheduling: Oversee the firm's central calendar, scheduling depositions, hearings, consultations, and client meetings.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 3+ years of experience working as a litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Assistant within a Texas law firm.
- Domain Knowledge: Prior exposure to eminent domain, condemnation, real estate law, land use, or oil and gas litigation is highly preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with Texas e-filing systems, case management platforms, and legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Soft Skills: Superior organizational skills, high attention to detail, and a respectful, client-first communication style.
- Bilingual Advantage: Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is a strong plus.
