Job Expectations
The Lead Tool and Die Maker builds, maintains, and troubleshoots precision tooling, dies, gauges, and fixtures used in manufacturing. This role also provides technical leadership, supports toolroom personnel, and works with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the build, repair, and modification of dies, fixtures, gauges, and related tooling
- Diagnose tooling issues, implement corrective actions, and support preventive maintenance to minimize downtime
- Review prints, CAD models, and specifications to determine tooling requirements and manufacturing methods
- Set priorities within the toolroom and assist tool makers, apprentices, and technicians
- Assist with engineering, quality, and production on launches, process improvements, and quality standards
- Perform precision machining using manual and CNC equipment while enforcing safe toolroom practices
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of tool and die experience in a manufacturing environment, including lead or leadership responsibilities
- Strong ability to read complex blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models and use precision measuring instruments
- Experience with metal stamping, machining, or mold-making processes and strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CAD/CAM software

Knowledge of CNC programming and EDM processes a plus
