JOB DUTIES
This position requires a professionally multi-skilled individual dedicated to assisting in all aspects of an Ophthalmic practice including clerical duties under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist and a Registered Nurse.
Essential Functions
- Assists physician with in-office procedures, refraction, slit lamp exams.
- Operates automated/manual visual field analyzers.
- Safely operate ophthalmic equipment – cameras, tonopen, slit lamp, projectors.
- Possess knowledge of ocular pharmacology.
- Perform other tasks associated with the clinic operation as assigned.
- Safely triage patients.
- Maintains patient records.

Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Experience Requirements:
1-year Ophthalmic practice or 2 years college in healthcare field required.
2 years College in Healthcare field can substitute for 1year experience in Ophthalmic practice required.
COA Certification Required
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
