American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical ICU position in Alexandria, LA, requiring active LA or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of critical care experience.

Mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting (Med-Surgical ICU A)
-
Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients
-
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call requirements

No floating required
-
13-week contract

Active LA RN license or current compact state RN license required
-
BLS certification required (AHA)
-
ACLS certification required (AHA)
-
Minimum 1 year of critical care experience preferred; new graduates will be considered

BSN preferred
-
All certifications must be current and unexpired
-
SSN required for consideration

Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation

Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
-
Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
-
Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
-
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers
-
New hires must attend orientation within the first 30 days and complete both organizational and Critical Care department-specific competency validations
-
Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
