We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused CDL A Water Truck Driver to join our field operations team immediately.
Position Summary
The CDL A Water Truck Driver is responsible for operating a water tanker truck to support active civil construction projects across our Florida jobsites. Primary duties include dust suppression on roadway construction sites, moisture conditioning of subbase materials for compaction, and transporting water to and from designated fill locations. This is a hands-on field role reporting to the Site Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate water truck to perform dust control and moisture conditioning on active roadway and underground drainage construction sites
- Saturate flexible base and fill materials to achieve proper compaction requirements as directed by the superintendent or foreman
- Transport water between job site locations, refill stations, and designated spray areas efficiently and on schedule
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections; check fluid levels (oil, water, fuel) and inspect for leaks, tire wear, and equipment damage before each shift
- Operate auxiliary pump and sprinkling attachment safely and in compliance with site requirements
- Coordinate with equipment operators, foremen, and other crew members to prioritize water needs across the site
- Report any mechanical issues, equipment damage, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and roadworthy truck at all times
- Comply with all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite rules
- Assist with incidental site labor tasks as directed when not operating the water truck
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) — required
- Tanker (N) endorsement — required
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience, preferably in a construction environment
- Clean driving record — must be insurable under company policy (MVR review will be conducted)
- Valid DOT medical certificate (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather conditions including heat, humidity, and rain
- Physical ability to climb on/off heavy equipment, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand or sit for extended periods
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating water trucks on civil roadway or underground drainage construction projects
- Experience with auxiliary pump systems and sprinkling attachments
- Ability to operate additional CDL equipment such as dump trucks (preferred but not required)
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, Monday through Friday (overtime and Saturday work may be required based on project needs)
