Special Conditions of Work:May be assigned to the capacity of Building Inspector.
Certifications:Valid Class C Wyoming Driver’s License. Commercial and Residential Inspector Certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.

General Description:
Performs a variety of technical and administrative inspections and assists the building inspector. Performs code inspections on dilapidated buildings and residential buildings.
Major Tasks:
Records information on a daily and monthly basis on a variety of forms, logs, reports and records concerning activities of the work unit, including, but not limited to, daily log sheets, time records, pick up logs, and monthly reports.
Receives training in building code issues and performs building inspections as needed.
Assists Building Inspector as needed with commercial inspections, performs residential building inspections.
Assists with review of issuance and renewal of conditional use permits.
Follows up with individuals or companies performing work without a license and brings same into compliance. Reviews and manages complaints against license and unlicensed contractors.
Minor Tasks:
Composes correspondence in response to inquiries or requests for services; submits same to supervisor for review.
Checks for proper operation of assigned equipment; performs emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems; arranges corrective maintenance as directed; maintains cleanliness of assigned equipment.
Assists citizens, vendors and contractors in the Planning Department.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge Areas:
Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances and departmental rules and regulations; knowledge of city geography.
Skill/Ability Areas:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public; ability to analyze situations objectively and to determine proper course of action to be taken; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to keep accurate records; skill in the use and care of equipment as assigned; skill in the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn specialized software applications. This position requires the physical ability to perform inspections in varied environments and conditions. Duties include climbing ladders, accessing rooftops and confined areas; lifting and carrying equipment up to 40lbs; standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods of time; working outdoors in all weather conditions; and operating a motor vehicle.
Pay: From $24.26 per hour
