This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys building strong supplier relationships while ensuring materials are delivered on time and within budget.
The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement process from purchase request through delivery. This role will work closely with internal departments to source materials, obtain competitive quotes, place purchase orders, and monitor deliveries to support production schedules. Previous buying experience in a manufacturing environment is required, with aerospace experience and knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards considered a strong plus.
Salary: $25.00- $27.00 DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Review purchase requests and obtain competitive quotes from approved suppliers.
- Source materials using historical purchasing data and approved vendor lists.
- Verify pricing, lead times, and product availability before issuing purchase orders.
- Place purchase orders and monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Track order status and communicate updates to internal departments.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support manufacturing schedules.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, delivery, and terms when appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues involving pricing, quality, or delivery.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation within the Global Shop ERP system.
- Assist with inventory planning and procurement reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing or buying experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous aerospace purchasing experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality standards is a plus.
- Experience using Global Shop ERP is preferred; experience with other ERP systems will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management, and procurement best practices.
- Ability to obtain quotes, compare pricing, verify lead times, and manage multiple purchase orders simultaneously.
- Strong basic math skills with excellent organizational and office skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred but not required.
