ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meets with the public and provides technical assistance in achieving service requirements.
2. Prepares work orders for line extensions and capital addition projects, including field work, office engineering, property research, encroachment permits, considering environmental impact, economic analysis, accounting functions, deed research and material requisition.
3. Provides assistance in substation engineering, including design, maintenance, and material requisition.
4. Develops and maintains Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
5. Performs system modeling and planning to identify problem areas and prepare for future growth.
6. Responsible for protective relay coordination, commissioning, troubleshooting, development and implementation of protective schemes.
7. Plans and participates in conferences to decide on functional requirements for assigned projects.
8. Provides technical guidance for architectural and engineering firms in coordination of design criteria, specifications, and selection of materials.
9. Provides assistance to the Chief Engineer in performing his duties and other departmental duties as assigned including assisting in budget preparation.
10. Develops standards and new programs as required or requested.
11. Performs studies and prepares reports as needed or as requested by the Chief Electrical Engineer.
12. Develop specifications and contracts for materials and contract labor bidding.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Registration as an engineer-in-training (EIT) in the state of Kentucky or the ability to obtain the registration within six months from the date of hire.
